Tell us about you and your company!
Hi! My name is Cristiana and I am the maker + owner of Soft Serenity Candle Company. I hand pour 100% natural soy wax candles in small batches to ensure a clean and quality burn.
What inspired you to start your company?
I have always had a passion for clean living and during the government shut down, I lost hours at work and needed to supplement my income. I decided this would be a great time to start a small business that I had always wanted to start.
What was the biggest lesson learned you’ve experienced as a small business owner so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is it’s okay to fail. Failure is the only thing that will help you learn. Surprisingly enough, I like to fail so I know where I can improve for the future.
How do you differentiate your business from others in the industry?
How do you differentiate your business from others in the industry?
Candles are everywhere, but many people do not know the toxins that are used to create some. My goal is to promote clean scents and clean candles to my customers. My candles are free of toxins, made with 100% natural soy wax, high quality oils and cotton wicks.
What is your favorite business book or podcast and why?
I love Embrace you Almost by Jordan Dooley. It’s about embracing your short comings and “almosts” when trying to reach a goal.
What is your definition and what do you do for self-care?
Self care to me is decompressing, unwinding, and regrouping. It can be done so many different ways. Each person can find self care in different outlets. My personal way to practice self care is lighting a candle, pouring a glass of wine, and taking a hot bath.
