Tell us about you and your company.

Hi! My name is Brittany and I am the owner of Glow & Co.

Glow & Co. is an all natural Candle & Body care company that is Latina owned and operated in Orlando, FL. I handmake everything with the intention to create products that are healthy for you and your family. Glow & Co was created to bring awareness to self-care with the types of essential oils that are used to help create a peaceful, healthy home environment with non-toxic, chemical-free products.

What inspired you to start your business and what drives your passion for it?

I have always suffered from allergies. Certain fragrances would trigger my allergies whether it was candles or even skincare products. When Covid hit, I became a first time mom with a son who also suffered from allergies and eczema. I wanted to make sure I created products that were safe for all of us in my home. 

What makes your business unique and sets it apart from competitors?

I think what sets me apart is, I try not to go with the trends. I try different things out, I love color, I love things that smell good and look good. So that’s exactly what you’ll get - lol. 

What inspires your selection of candle scents and do you have a favorite?

When I pick out scents, I try to pick things out that aren't already in your local stores. Of course you always have to have your classics like vanilla, etc. But, remember I’m trying to be unique here lol, so I have to make sure they smell luxurious.  So, I actually buy a bunch of samples and create tiny tin candles and I would burn them before I sell them. I even have my husband help with this process because I go for the sweet, soft scents and I would forget about people who love masculine scents. So I utilize him for the more stronger scented candles to build some variety. We usually don't pick anything too strong because again, for those who suffer with allergies won’t be able to deal with it in their home. 

I do have a favorite, its Passion. Passion was actually one of the first scents I made when I started my company 3 years ago. It’s subtle but sweet. 

What is your biggest lesson learned as a small business owner?

Get help when you need it. Don't feel like you have to do everything on your own. I learned that the hard way.

What is on the horizon for your small business?

Well, I’ve come to a point in my business where I sell straight from my online store or wholesale. So that’s where I’m at right now. And I’m happy with it. Hopefully you’ll see me in a lot more stores this upcoming year. 

What is your definition of self-care?

Protecting one’s own well-being and happiness. Basically do whatever in this world that makes YOU happy. 

What do you do for self-care?

I enjoy doing absolutely nothing at home. Maybe have a few hours of alone time in the house, for some peace and quiet and binge watch a good show. But doing things that don’t allow me to feel overwhelmed.
